15 year old Lakshya Sen of Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy won his maiden Men’s Singles title in the Dorjee Khandu All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament which ended on 24th September in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He beat former Academy mate Daniel Farid 21-9, 21-19 in the finals. He had upset the top seed Shreyansh Jaiswal in the semis in three games 21-19,11-21, 21-18. This win should boost his confidence as he participates in the BAC Asia Under 17 Championships to be held in Indonesia.
Bodhit Joshi also played his best so far in a senior tournament, reaching the semi-finals where he lost to Daniel Farid. Mahima Aggarwal also performed well, winning two bronze medals, i.e. in the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. In Mixed Doubles, she combined with Krishnaprasad and took the eventual winners Tarun and Meghana to three games in the semis. In the Women’s Doubles she and Anura lost a very close three-setter to Ningshi Block Hazarika and Shruti Mundada in the semis.
