Kiran George made amends for missing out on the Indian team for the World Juniors by annexing his first senior title at the national level in Bangalore. Kiran who is the current national champion in the under 17 age category and also a silver medallist in the same category at the Asian Junior Championships last year has been steadily showing progress over the last one year. He came through bruising three setters in the semifinals against the top seeded Daniel Farid 15-21, 21-19, 21-18 and also in the finals against Harshit Aggarwal 15-21 21-19 21-19 to clinch the title.
Mahima too won her first Senior Mixed Doubles Title
Another Academy trainee Mahima Aggarwal won her first senior All India Mixed Doubles title, pairing up with Nandagopal, beating Shlok Ramachandran and Arundhati Pantawane in the finals. Mahima and Nandagopal lost the first game 11-21 but they came back strongly in the second game winning 21-13 and in the decider game when the champion pair were leading 12-3, Shlok and Arundhati retired which made Mahima and Nandagopal lift their maiden Senior Mixed Doubles Title.
