Siddharth Pratap Singh wins maiden Senior title in Sweden

19 year old Siddharth Pratap Singh won his first Senior title at an international event i.e. the Swedish Open 2018 in Lund on Sunday, beating Mads Christophersen of Denmark 21-15, 21-11 in 33 minutes. Siddharth had to save a match in the second game in the first round of the tournament against Patrick Bjerregaard of Denmark to remain in contention. He beat Patrick 21-23, 23-21, 21-15; Sergey Sirant of Russia 21-15, 21-9; Hermansah of Indonesia 21-18,21-16 and Felix Burestedt of Sweden 21-19, 21-18 in the semi finals.

It is remarkable that Siddharth notched his first international title in his fourth international tournament outside India. His international ranking, currently at 211 is bound to improve dramatically after this triumph. Siddharth, along with fellow academy mates Kiran George and Bodhit Joshi and coach Umender Rana proceed to Reykjavik for the Iceland Open starting on the 25th January.
