Meiraba Luwang and Aditi Bhatt won Bronze Medals in the Under-17 Boys’ and Under-17 Girls’ singles respectively in the Badminton Asia Junior Under 17 & Under 15 Championships 2018 held in Myanmar from 3rd to 7th October 2018.
15-year-old Meiraba, who was seeded No.3 in the championships, had not lost a single game before reaching Semi-finals where he lost to eventual winner Jin Hong of Korea in a 3 setter 21-19, 16-21, 10-21.
Similarly, Aditi Bhat, yet another talent from our Academy, won the Bronze Medal in the Under-17 Girls’ Singles. Aditi had an easy win over Loo Yi Xuan Sophia of Singapore in her first round. In the second round Aditi upset the 2nd seeded Thailand girl Pornpicha Choeikeewong in a hard fought 3-setter 21-13,13-21, 21-13. However, in the semi-finals she lost to Aisyah Sativa Fatetani of Indonesia 21-12, 21-13 and had to settle for Bronze Medal.
Aditi will be representing the country in the BWF World Junior Championships 2018 at Markham, Canada from 5th to 18th November 2018.
