16 year old Lakshya Sen won his second International Men's Singles title beating second seeded Zvonimir Durkinjak of Croatia in three games 18-21, 21-12, 21-17 in 57 minutes in the finals of the Eurasia Bulgarian Open 2017 in Sofia today. Lakshya had earlier upset the tournament top seed Sam Parsons of England in straight games 21-17, 21-9. Lakshya had won his first Men's international title last year when he won the Sats India International Series in Hyderabad.
World Junior No. 1, Lakshya and his three-other academy batchmates Rahul Bharadwaj, Kiran George and Maisnam Meiraba along with coach Sayali Gokhale and trainer Mobya Duyu have been in Europe attending a 10-day training program under French National Coach and former World No.1 Peter Gade.
Lakshya had earlier this year won the bronze in the Dutch Junior International and silver in the German Junior International. This win should go a long way in bolstering his confidence as he prepares for the World Junior Championships to be held in Indonesia in October.
