Lakshya Sen wins the Badminton Asia Junior Championships

Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy trainee Lakshya Sen has once again done the academy proud by winning the gold medal in the Badminton Asia Junior Championships that concluded in Jakarta (Indonesia) on Sunday.
What made the victory special was that the sixth-seeded Indian player, with a 21-19, 21-18 scoreline, upset the top-seeded Thailand player Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the title round of the prestigious event. The encounter lasted 46 minutes as Sen gave it nothing but his best to emerge as the champion of Asia.
The triumphant campaign of the PPBA ward assumes more significance as he is only the third Indian to clinch the gold medal in the Asia Junior Championships. The other two were Gautam Thakkar (1965) and PV Sindhu (2012).
Some time ago, Sen had done the India and the PPBA proud by achieving the World No 1 ranking among the juniors.
The dedicated training of his coaches and the top-class facilities of the PPBA, under the leadership of the legendary Prakash Padukone, has paid rich dividends. There is also no doubt as to the hard work and utmost commitment that the Uttarakhand native has put in to achieve whatever he has till now.
The PPBA would like to congratulate the youngster on this achievement and hopes he will go on to bring more laurels for the country.
