Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy trainee Lakshya Sen has once again done the academy proud by winning the gold medal in the Badminton Asia Junior Championships that concluded in Jakarta (Indonesia) on Sunday.
What made the victory special was that the sixth-seeded Indian player, with a 21-19, 21-18 scoreline,
19 year old Siddharth Pratap Singh won his first Senior title at an international event i.e. the Swedish Open 2018 in Lund on Sunday, beating Mads Christophersen of Denmark 21-15, 21-11 in 33 minutes. Siddharth had to save a match in the second game in the first round of the tournament against Patrick Bjerregaard of Denmark to remain in contention. He beat Patrick 21-23, 23-21, 21-15; Sergey Sirant of Russia 21-15, 21-9; Hermansah of Indonesia 21-18,21-16 and Felix Burestedt of Sweden 21-19, 21-18 in the semi finals.
Maisnam Meiraba annexed the Under 17 Boys' Singles title at the 42nd Junior National Badminton Championships which concluded in Guwahati yesterday. Meiraba, who won the national title without loss of a set, beat Amit Rathore 21-13, 21-10. He had won the bronze medal in the same event in the Korean Juniors a couple of weeks back. Meiraba has thus added to his collection of two Under 13 and one Under 15 National Boys' Singles titles.

This programme was conceptualised with the intent of having foreign teams come to the garden city of Bangalore and train at the world class facilities of the PPBA.
